Your property needs to be fully refreshed in between guests, but with very little time between checkout and the next arrival you don’t just need lots of elbow grease – you also need a strategy. Start In The Kitchen
Before you can start cleaning, you’ll first need to:
- Take out the bin.
- Empty the dishwasher or drying rack.
- Remove all foods from the fridge.
- And air out the space.
Once the kitchen is restored to its original condition, take a few minutes to spray and wipe down all the surfaces and sweep the floor.
Tidy The Living Room
The time that it takes to reset the living room will vary from guest to guest. Whilst most will have tidied up after themselves, there are always those who will have checked out in a hurry and may have left the space in a less-than-perfect condition.

- Remove all plates, cups, and clutter.

Reset The Bedrooms
Strip all the beds in the property and replace them with clean ones. Look for any stains that class as damage (e.g. hair dye or pen ink) and document them for future reference, before putting all the sheets in the wash.
Fluff up the pillows, add the comforter and scatter cushions back onto the bed, and check that nothing has been left behind by the previous guests. This may include chargers, toothbrushes and small pieces of jewellery, but also larger items such as pairs of shoes or even a laptop that was stored away in the wardrobe and forgotten about.
Clean The Bathroom
It is a good idea to leave a reminder in the check-in information asking your guests to leave their used towels in the bat. This makes it much easier to remove the ones that have been used, as well as the bathmat, and replace them with clean ones.
Once this is done, make sure that you:
- Rinse and clean the bath.
- Clean the shower, including the walls and doors.
- Spray and polish the mirrors.
- Tackle any hard water stains.
- And clean the toilet seat, lid and bowl.
Before You Leave…
Restock The Kitchen: Leave plenty of washing up liquid, scourers, and bin bags, but also those little touches that will make them feel extra welcome e.g. complimentary coffee, tea bags, and a small pint of milk.
Check The Bathroom: Is there enough hand soap and loo roll?
If not, fully restock both, and consider leaving a few small toiletries, as well as a hairdryer in the bedroom wardrobe.
Tackle The Weeds: First impressions matter. Pull up any weeds around the entrance to the property, brush away any fallen leaves or twigs, and wipe down your garden furniture.
